The light works as both a flashlight and as a big area light. We use it out on the grill and the magnetic base secures well to the metal sideboard. It has not melted (which I was worry-warting about at first) We also used on camping trip and it worked well for night walks as flashlight and for lighting up whole area under the canopy. It is lightweight, the switches work fine, and light is clear and bright-no dark spots. I wish the neck was a bit longer and the magnetic base a bit stronger…
