This thing works really well. It’s also skinny enough to fit in various locations in my smoker without taking up a whole tray. If you fill it completely, some pellets will obviously want to fall out the open end when you lay it down. A flip-up enclosure would have been nice. I’ll have to engineer something, but might be as simple as a little aluminum foil wrapped around the open end, then light it from the closed end. As far as burn rate, I used Pit Boss pellets, and I got about 5 hours of burn…
Should be 4.5. Would have given 5 if had some sort of cap to keep pellets inside when laying on its side. I light with a heat gun. This thing smokes like crazy for at least 4 hours. I use it with my GMG when cold smoking or speeding up the smoking process. It lays inside the vessel and provides serious smoke. I just ordered another one for my buddy.
